Staying Fit

Basketball season is sadly coming to a close. I'm already looking forward to the next season! I don't know about you, but one of the hardest things for me when the sports season is over is staying in shape. A lot of my teammates have another sport such as volleyball or soccer that they play during the off season and that helps keep them fit. There aren't any other sports that appeal to me other than basketball, so I have to try and come up with my own way of staying fit.

7 MINUTE WORKOUT

My dear friend, Celia, told me about this amazing workout. It's quick (obviously hint the name) and simple workout that still makes you feel it the next morning. I personally could go on and on about this app, but that would take up to much of this post. ;) To sum it up I totally recommend it.

RUN IN THE MORNING

Ah, running in the fresh early morning. What a great way to start out your day. You may not even be the "running" type, but just getting out in the early morning to do a power walk is just as good. I really encourage everyone to try doing this.

ARM WORKOUT

Keeping up your arm strength is really important for my sport. I found this great arm workout that I want to tryout.

-20 Push Ups
-15 Burpees
-20 Tricep Dips
-15 Bicep Curls
-20 Push Ups
-1:00 Plank
-15 Tricep Dips
-15 Lateral Raises
-15 Tricep Kickbacks

I would love to hear what kind of workouts any of y'all have. Share in the comments bellow!

I wish I had said that......

I'm a writer. I love words. One word can mean a thousand things. (Oh, that sounds like a good quote! Write that down.)  Anyways back to the point, words are beautiful and are so full of meaning. I thought I would share some of my favorite quotes.

I came up with this quote. My last quote of 2015. :)

"SHOULD I PLAY A SPORT?"

There is no yes or no answer to this question. There are many pros and cons to playing a sport, but it all depends on you.

The pros are great exercise, fellowship, learning the importance of a team, how to become a leader, etc. I could write a list that would go on and on.

Now you're probably thinking, "What are the cons?" Well, there aren't really any negative things about playing a sport. Yeah you could get injured, but that could happen while you were playing outside. You can't avoid things like that. The negative thing about playing a sport is you.  How are you going to respond when you're out there playing on the court, field, etc. This goes for the parent and the player. Let me give you an example of what I mean. Let's go with playing time.

PLAYING TIME

THIS is probably the biggest argument every player and parent have with the coach. "I deserve to play! I've played longer than he has!" and "My kid needs just as much playing time as that kid does! It's not fare!" I've heard it all.

Now lets just say you play basketball. You play about 2 minutes every game and sometimes you don't even get that much. How are you going to respond to this? Are you going to complain about it or will you take it as a learning experience?

My youngest brother, Clay, has just started playing basketball for a middle school team. He the smallest player out there, gets about 2-5 minutes every game. Does he complain? No. He thinks of it has paying his dues. This is his year to sit the bench, but during the off season he's going to work hard and hopes that it will pay off next season.

Now again should you play a sport? The question is, how will you respond?
